Collection Information

Background

The 1:100,000 Soviet Topographic Collection contains complete coverage of Albania. The collection is comprised of tiled images, each representing five minutes of latitude and seven and one-half minutes of longitude. Each tile is contained in a corresponding file and can be downloaded in a variety of formats. The exact details of publication are unknown. The maps were provided as is, without any peripheral data. Excluding the BunkerTrails watermark, the tiles are presented as they were obtained.

Technical Data

These maps were created using the Krassovsky 1942 spheroid, the Pulkovo 1942 datum, and are drawn in the Gauss-Kruger Zone 4 Projection. It is important to note that the coordinate system used in these maps is not the same as is used by most consumer grade GPS units. If these maps are intended to serve a navigational purpose, especially in conjunction with a GPS unit, please ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to ensure navigational accuracy. There is no definitive copyright holder for this collection. These digital rasters were obtained through Jonathan de Ferranti. They are of Russian origin, and are derived from Italian survey data completed in the 1930's. These maps represent the combined efforts of many individuals and governments. The images have been watermarked for project tracking purposes. If unmarked images are required, please contact the project.
